The Year 3 Team!

We would like to give a very warm welcome to Mrs Everest who will be teaching Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  Mrs Davey will carry on teaching Thursday and Friday.  The class is also supported by Mrs Bentley, Mrs Avramoussis and Mrs Fidler.

SUMMER TERM 2010

The theme for this term is based around "The River Cray" and "Water"

In History and Geography we will be looking at the water cycle and the importance of water in the past as well as investigating the River Cray.

In Science our first topic will be "Helping plants to grow".  We have already planted a lot of vegetables in our allotment (thanks to Ms Riley) and will be looking at what helps them to grow really well.

Our second topic will be "Light and Shadow".

We will also be making sandwiches as our DT project.

In Literacy the children will be looking at and learning to write information texts linked to our theme for this term.  We will also be reading plays and learning about dialogue as well as retelling stories with lots of drama activities.

In Numeracy we will be learning strategies for addition and subtraction, looking at measuring length with links to Science and extending the children's understanding of angles.  There will also be a focus on learning times tables.

Please remember that your child needs to have a PE kit in school: t-shirt in house colours, black or dark green shorts and plimsolls in a bag to hang on your child's peg.  Please ensure your child's belongings are clearly marked with his/her name.
